Manners, as well as your Grandmother’s pearls, are the only things that will never go out of style.

To be unforgettable, you have to be a woman like no other.  At this point in your life, “following” the crowd is only going to get you mediocre.  

Wearing fake pearls is just about a mortal sin.  At the very least, your pearls should have the little knots in between them.  If you don’t have Grandmother’s yet, invest in some decent ones of your own that you can give to your daughter.

Don’t spend your money on purses that you know you will only like for a little while.  Purses should be of quality and should last.  The easiest way to judge someone is to look at their shoes and then their purse.  Do you want to be carrying the trendy new whatever or do you want to be carrying the designer/well made purse that is still going to be in style when your daughter is in college? That’s what I thought.

You should own a dress that is appropriate for everyyyyy occasion.  You don’t want to have to rush to buy a new dress for something that comes up suddenly.  When in doubt, dress it out ;)

When getting ready for an event- semiformal, wedding, charity gala, debutante ball, etc. you will regret going overboard on your hair and makeup. Looking elegant has nothing to do with how MUCH make up you have on or how fancy your hair is fixed.  

Whenever possible, head to the coast.  The ocean has a powerful renewing affect and there’s just nothing like it.
